Who is ready to hear what you have to say?

This vlog talks about people in your audience being ready to hear your message, but also how to connect with them if they’re not quite ready yet. It will help you identify who is ready to hear what you have to say.

The people in your audience

Here’s the summary if you don’t have the opportunity to watch the video.

“What’s for you won’t pass you”

I’ve been coming across a statement a lot recently that

“what’s for you won’t pass you”

And it’s something that I believe in, but not in a passive way. So what’s for you will find you. And you need to take action in order to help that to happen. But it’s a really useful phrase and it’s resonated recently when thinking about how you direct your presentation and your speech to the people who are sitting there in the audience.

Because I am a great believer that if somebody is ready to hear what you’ve got to say,

then they will be there. And that if somebody is going to take action on what you’ve said, if they’re going to do something with what you’ve said, then they will be ready.

They will be, the right person in the right place. At the right time.

Who is ready to hear what you have to say?

Now the flip side of that is that there may well be people in your audience who need to hear what you’ve got to say. But for whatever reason, they’re not ready to hear it yet.

The yet is important

Because when we deliver really, really good presentations, then the words that we say and the feelings and the stories that we tell resonate long after we have actually delivered.

So if they’re not ready to hear it then, at that time, then they may well be ready later on. And your ability to be memorable to speak to the heart, to build a deep connection, increases the chance of them hearing it. At a later time when they are more ready.

So how does that help you when you’re preparing a presentation?

It helps you because if you can imagine that that person who is ready to hear what you have to say is going to be there, they talk to that person. Know that that’s a real human being and you can speak to them in the way that you express yourself. And that way, it will land.

But it also means that because you are talking to a real human being, then the chances are increased massively for people who didn’t know that they were ready but find out that they’re ready to hear what you’ve said.

Those people who might not be ready then, but could be ready later in the future.

And of course please get in touch with me if you have any questions. I’d be happy to answer them.
